Staff

  

Faculty members of the Department of Political Science and the Department of International Relations and European Studies include some of the leading Czech scholars in these fields. All faculty members combine teaching activities with active research work, including publishing monographs, contributing to scholarly journals, and carrying out research projects of both national and regional significance.

  

Ondřej Císař, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Political Science; Editor-in-Chief, Mezinárodní vztahy (Journal of International Relations)

His primary research interests are transnational relations, non-governmental organizations, social movements, global governance, transnational democracy, globalization. His teaching areas in addition include also political theory and political philosophy.

  

Marek Čejka, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, International Relations and European Studies 

His main research fields are the Middle East, the relationship between religion and politics, international law, and the United Nations. 

  

Břetislav Dančák, Ph.D.

Dean of the Faculty; Associate Professor, International Relations and European Studies; Director, International Institute of Political Science

His research focus is on the cooperation between the Visegrad countries and their relations with key actors in world politics.

  

Vít Hloušek, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, International Relations and European Studies

His research areas include comparative politics, political and party systems in European states, and party politics in Central Europe.

  

Lubomír Kopeček, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Political Science

His research is focused on political and party systems in Eastern and Central Europe, with a special emphasis on Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine.

  

Oldřich Krpec, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, International Relations and European Studies

His research focus is on international political economy, the global economy, and international economic organizations.

  

Miroslav Mareš, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, Political Science

His research interests are policy analysis, political extremism, and the theory of party politics, with a special focus on the Czech Republic, Germany and the EU.

  

Michal Pink, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, Political Science

His research focuses on electoral studies, on the French political system, and on French nationalism.

  

Ivo Pospíšil, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, International Relations and European Studies

He focuses on constitutional and international law and political transition, with a special emphasis on the issue of the protection of human rights and freedoms in international and European law.

  

Pavel Pšeja, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, International Relations and European Studies, European Politics program coordinator

His research focus is on theories of International Relations, with an additional interest in the Czech party system.

  

Hubert Smekal, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, International Relations and European Studies

He focuses on issues of human rights in the European Union and on the influence of the European Court of Justice on European integration.

  

Petr Suchý, Ph.D.

Head of the Department, Department of International Relations and European Studies; Assistant Professor, International Relations and European Studies

His central research interest is US politics since the end of World War II.

  

Zdeněk Sychra, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, International Relations and European Studies

His research area is European politics and European integration, including economic and monetary integration and the enlargement of the EU.

  

Věra Stojarová, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, Political Science

Her research focus is on the specific features of political systems in the Western Balkans, on security in the Balkans, on theories of security, and on security in the Andean community of nations.

His research focus is on electoral systems and elections.
